Before getting in touch with Golden Retriever enthusiasts, we highly recommend reading “Finding a Golden Retriever,” published by the Golden Retriever Club of America. Please pay special attention to the “Code of Ethics” section contained in the appendix. More information is available online at their website.

- Have a friendly and outgoing temperament
- Have eye clearance from a veterinary ophthalmologist
- Have heart clearance from a veterinary cardiologist
- Have no disqualifying breed faults stated in the breed standard
- Have OFA hip and elbow clearances
